My first goal for 2025 was to complete my first draft edits of my debut novel “Until All Is Forgiven”.  I am excited to announce that I did finish my edits by the end of Jan 2025!  I can’t express how good it felt to have completed this major milestone to becoming a published author.  So, “What is next” you might ask….BETA READERS.

Last August when I started to create a presence in the author social media world, I had NOOOOO idea what a beta reader was.  Thanks to all of you out there in the Author social media world who have helped me up to this point.  I finally learned that beta readers are people who read an early draft of your book.  This could be friends and/or family.  In my case, I selected some friends and some family.  I started sending out the Beta copies in mid-February, delivering my last one in early March.  I won’t deny that I was very nervous about putting my “baby” out there.

However, my first two Beta readers came back with some very positive feedback.  My first reader said, “It was a page turner!”  She loved it.  My second reader said “Loved it?  I could not stop reading it!” I won’t deny, my heart was full.

I have asked the remaining beta readers to try and have their feedback to me by the end of March.  They have all said that would not be a problem.

I am reminding myself that not all my beta readers will necessarily feel the same as the first two.  I really don’t want to get too attached to desiring only positive feedback.  In fact, I truly hope to receive some constructive feedback to allow me to elevate my book to the next level.

Once I have all my Beta Reader feedback rolled into yet another draft, I will be ready to send my book off to a professional editor, another scary step!  This whole process to date has been a series of steps taking me out of my comfort zone and doing things I’ve never done before. I have learned so much on this journey and am certain there is a lot more to learn.

Before I go, I want to say I have truly learned the value of Beta readers and appreciate them immensely for taking their time to read my book!
