I Just Finished My First 10K.

Phew! I actually achieved a milestone this week in my writing. I now have 10,000 words written. I didn't even know I could write that many words. But I sat down everyday (well, almost everyday) and wrote at least 300 words. Even more amazing is that I have not run out of ideas of what to write.

I promised I would share some of my writing with you and although I am a bit nervous to "put it out there", here goes.....

Chapter 1

Again Charlie woke from the same dream she has had for the last 3 nights. She sits up and rubs her eyes and can feel the intensity of her heart racing. It felt so real. Was someone really here? Of course not, it was just a silly dream. She reaches for her glass of water on the nightstand and drinks it down. She tries to go back to sleep but realizes that it’s pointless.

So she quietly gets out of bed and stumbles to the bathroom. She hears her husband move in the bed. Hoping not to wake him again, she uses the bathroom in the dark. She then quietly walks to her nightstand, grabs her book, glasses, and her empty cup of water and heads to the kitchen to refill her glass of water.

With a fresh glass of water, and her latest novel in hand, she enters her office where she can be alone in her sanctuary to escape into the fantasy of someone else’s drama. She loves her office. She designed it to be a peaceful and loving place.

Almost without any thought at all, she lights the candle in her Himalayan salt rock candle holder. The women in the store where she bought it had told her that using this candle holder would clear any negative energy in the air. She nestles herself into her comfy chair and stares at the candle for just a moment and then begins to read.

Within just a few moments into her book, she hears a faint voice call out “help me”. Shaking her head, she decides that she is definitely hearing things and decides to continue reading her book. Again she hears the pleading call; only a little louder this time, “help me”.

What the hell is going on? First I am awakened by the same dream and my sleep is disturbed. Now I am trying to relax and read my book and all I hear are voices? She is beginning to think that she is going mad. She slams down her book and decides that her restful time is over and she may as well get up and get her day started. She walks over to the computer and turns it on. As usual, she has way too many things scheduled in her day and way too many things on her “To-Do” list. She’s comforted by the idea that once she turns to the routine of the day, she will no longer be disturbed by her mysterious dreams and voices.
