Have you Limited Yourself?

As I mentioned in my last blog, I have started my writing again. But let me just say, I spent a few weeks prior to the new year coaching myself to pick it up again. I had a lot of limiting beliefs about writing and I was letting them get the better of me. So instead, I had escaped into my books on Audio and Hallmark Christmas movies.

Limiting Beliefs can leave us paralyzed to move forward. They keep us from reaching our full potential. They can also keep us from experiencing joy. My limiting beliefs just to name a few are:

· I am not a writer

· I don’t have the skill to write something compelling or that made sense

· The book was just too big to keep up with

· I am too busy with my day job

· I am not an expert on the subject of my book

Always a new year is a good time to pick up something new or something you have let go of. The New Year seems to provide its own kind of momentum. I decided to ride on the New Year momentum. I wrote down my writing goals last week and taped them on my wall. I really wanted to hold myself accountable. My goals are as follows:

1. Write 340 words per day

2. Write or research 30 mins/day

3. Blog once per week

4. Grow my blog followers by 50 for the year

And here is how I am doing so far:

1. I have averaged 400 words/day and written another 10K words

2. I have done some research over the past month

3. I am writing my 2nd blog right now (so far so good)

4. I have grown my blog followers by 9 just since last week 😊

I feel that writing down my goals and hanging them on my wall next to my computer has helped me to stick to my commitment to myself.

Question to you for the week: What are your limiting beliefs?

“There is one grand lie – that we are limited. The only limits we have are the limits we believe” – Wayne Dyer

“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”
